2016 Townwide Physical Monitoring Report, dated February 2017
Reach 8: (R-128+500 to R-134)
Over the past year, Reach 8 exhibited a net shoreline recession of -2.4 feet. Shoreline recession occurred throughout the reach with the exception of the northernmost monument (R-129). This reach exhibited a net volumetric gain of 117,507 cubic yards over this monitoring period with gains occurring everywhere except the southernmost portion of the reach (Between R-133 and R-134). Gains were most significant in the nearshore zones between M HW and a depth of 13.1 feet.
Since 1990, Reach 8 has exhibited a net average loss of -4.1 feet, though recession generally occurred at the north end of the reach and advancement was most prominent in the southern portions of the reach. Since 1990, the reach has exhibited a net gain of 105, 175 cubic yards (to a depth of -26.2 feet NAVD), This net gain is attributable to the significant gains which occurred over this monitoring period and are likely attributable to migration of material into the reach from the 2016 Phipps/Reach 7 Nourishment Project.
