The Town and its Planning, Zoning and Building Department are encouraging early thought, communication, and action among condo and co-op building leadership in regards to new Florida legislation, Senate Bill 4-D, that mandates milestone inspections and a structural study in the wake of the tragic Surfside condominium collapse.
The Town has recently published an informative webpage regarding these new mandatory protocols. It is essential that building stakeholders review the information, evaluate if and how it applies to their building, and act accordingly ahead of upcoming deadlines.
Depending on a building’s criteria and age, one or both steps is due by December 31, 2024, or sooner. Please view the Town’s webpage for more information on when your building is expected to comply with the law.
Please note that this communication is not meant to provide legal advice and does not constitute the written notice of a milestone inspection the law references that your building will receive at the appropriate time. This is simply an informative alert that aims to encourage proactive behavior among condominiums and co-ops.
