In response to concerns from the community and Town Council, 38 new signs have been installed throughout the Lake Trail reminding riders of prohibited types of transportation. The signs read: "All electric and motorized modes of transport prohibited." The Lake Trail spans from Peruvian Avenue and South Lake Drive to north of the Sailfish Club and has a posted speed limit of 10 mph. When on this path, only standard bicycles and pedestrians are allowed. The restrictions on motorized transportation on the Lake Trail are not new and have been in place since 1982.
As Palm Beach Police Captain William Rothrock says, "The Lake Trail is a beautiful public space intended for the enjoyment of everyone. It is not intended for high-speed activity."
Let's all help keep it that way!
Reminder: e-bikes, e-scooters, Segways, golf carts, and any other electric and motorized modes of transport are prohibited, with the exception of motorized medical equipment as part of The Americans with Disabilities Act.
