The Town Charter provides that a General Election shall be held on the second Tuesday of March of each year for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two (2) council members in year one and electing three (3) council members the following year. All offices are for a two-year term and all council members serve at-large. All qualifications and elections for the offices of Town Council shall be conducted on a non-partisan basis without regard to the designation of political party affiliation.
The 2023 Town Election will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. If necessary, a runoff election will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
The following offices will be up for election on March 14, 2023:
Mayor: Incumbent – Danielle H. Moore
Council Seat (Group 1): Incumbent - Julie Araskog
Council Seat (Group 2): Incumbent - Edward A. Cooney
The candidates for the office of Mayor or Town Council shall qualify for such offices by:
1.Being nominated by an elector of the Town and seconded by at least two (2) electors, at the Town Caucus to be held on December 6, 2022, at 6:00 PM in the Town Council Chambers; and
2.Being a Town resident for a minimum of one (1) year prior to qualifying; and
3. Being endorsed by a petition signed by at least twenty-five electors, filed with the Town Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on the day following the Town Caucus.
