[ARCHIVED] Town Residents Urged to Closely Monitor the Tropics

Town Seal color large paint

The Town of Palm Beach urges residents to monitor the tropics as the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season has its first tropical system. While it is too early to determine the specifics of any impacts, if they do occur, heavy rainfall is likely to be the main threat, with gusty winds, rip currents, and waterspouts/tornadoes possible as additional threats. A widespread 4-8” of rain is forecast for South Florida Friday and Saturday with locally higher amounts of 12+”.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs from June 1 through November 30, with the peak occurring around the middle of September. Local officials advise residents and business owners to monitor the situation closely and use this first storm to double-check that emergency plans are in order.
