The Police Department has received reports of coyote sightings in the Town, primarily from Southern Blvd., to the southern end of Town. Coyotes are a natural part of Florida’s ecosystem and maintain a presence on the island where they assist in managing rodent and small animal populations. Coyotes rarely pose a threat to people. As a precaution, we encourage our residents to keep their small pets in enclosed areas and walk dogs on short leashes in areas where coyotes have been sighted recently.
