National Breast Cancer Awareness Month takes place every year during the month of October. It is an annual health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities to increase the awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.
The Palm Beach Police Department supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing a pink version of the uniform patch in support of the awareness campaign. The Palm Beach Police Department invites members of the community to support local cancer charities and make sure to get an annual checkup.
