[ARCHIVED] Golf Carts Prohibited on Public Roads

Patch Transparent

The Palm Beach Police Department would like to remind the community that golf carts are prohibited on public roadways and streets as per Florida State Statutes 316.212. The Town of Palm Beach has not designated any roadways for permitted golf cart use. Residents may purchase Low Speed Vehicles (LSV), or have golf carts converted to LSV’s, which require certain safety requirements, motor vehicle titling, insurance and registration for use on public roadways in Town. Operators of LSV’s must comply with all motor vehicle laws to include having a properly licensed driver.

The usage of unregistered, uninsured golf carts by unlicensed operators on the public roadways is unsafe. The Palm Beach Police Department is committed to keeping the community safe and will educate operators and are subject to citations for observed violations. For more information on LSV’s, visit the FL Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles by clicking here.
