[ARCHIVED] Distracted Driving

Patch Transparent

AAA reports that distracted drivers are a growing danger and play a factor in a large percentage of accidents. Distracted Driving is the practice of driving a motor vehicle while engaged in another activity, such as the use of a mobile phone or other electronic device.

Another common driver distraction can be persons or events outside the vehicle. A drive through the Town of Palm Beach can provide many such distractions for drivers. Presidential visits and tourists from all over the world add to the seasonal traffic congestion which equates to even more distractions.

During peak traffic periods, it is necessary for drivers to be keenly aware of their surroundings.  Keep your attention on the road and be conscious of traffic around you. Police Officers will be directing traffic to assist drivers on and off the island. You can help by being attentive to traffic signals and Officers.

Palm Beach Police wants everyone to arrive at their destination as quickly and safely as possible.  Do your part by paying attention to the traffic in front of you and moving as soon as possible while keeping a safe distance between cars in case of sudden stops.
