The new Morton and Barbara Mandel Recreation Center, 340 Seaview Avenue, Palm Beach, will be holding its Grand Opening on Friday, December 6, 2019, at 10:30am. The ceremony will feature a Ribbon Cutting with Mayor Gail Coniglio of the Town of Palm Beach, representatives from Hedrick Brothers Construction and Stephen Boruff, AIA Architects + Planners, Inc., Mr. Matthew Smith and Mr. Michael Ainslie of the Friends of Recreation and representatives from the Morton and Barbara Mandel Family Foundation. Immediately following the Ribbon Cutting, Recreation Staff invite attendees to join in our Open House activities including facility tours, instructor meet and greets with hands on demos, a scavenger hunt, face painting, a bounce house and obstacle course as well as wellness checks through Palm Beach Fire Rescue. Scheduled afternoon activities include a visit from Wilson Representative Raul Valdes to test out the latest in Wilson racquet technology, a Pro/Player Pro Am at 12:30 p.m., a Pickleball Demo at 1:45 p.m., and a Basketball Challenge at 2:30 p.m.

The Mandel Recreation Center is a partnership between the Morton and Barbara Mandel Family Foundation, the Friends of Recreation, and the Town of Palm Beach, each contributing one-third of the total cost.  The approximately 17,000 square foot one story facility includes a fieldhouse, after-school room, fitness center, multi-purpose rooms, snack bar, game room/lobby and administrative offices. The project also includes a new and larger playground, updated multi-purpose field, renovated tennis pro-shop, and a new tennis viewing pavilion.
