The Police Department is aware of recent scam phone calls from imposters claiming to be from the Social Security Office. They have been telling the call recipient that he or she as a warrant for their arrest that can be rectified by paying in Bitcoins, gift cards, or other methods. These calls may appear on caller ID to be coming from a legitimate government agency or a local area code, but they are not. Do not give any personal information, and report the scam to the FTC at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/.
