2015 Sand Placement Projects
During the week of January 12, 2015, work began on the Mid-Town Beach Renourishment and the Reaches 7 and 8 Beach and Dune Truck Haul Projects.

The Town’s dredging contractor for the 2.8-mile long Mid-Town project is Weeks Marine, Inc. The beach placement efforts began near Sunset Avenue and have been progressing to the north. The beaches from Sunset Avenue to approximately Miraflores Drive will be renourished first before the operation moves from Sunset Avenue to the south, which is scheduled to begin in February 2015. Periodic beach closures are anticipated in the active sand placement areas. All construction activities are currently being performed from the beach and there is no traffic concerns related to this project at this time. The dredging operation will occur 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, inclusive of holidays.

The Town’s truck haul contractor for the Reaches 7 and 8 project is Rio-Bak Corporation. This project involves sand removal from Mid-Town beach to be transported to Phipps Ocean Park (Reach 7) and south of the Lake Worth pier (Reach 8) along South Ocean Boulevard. Vehicles traveling on South Ocean Blvd. in the Mid-Town beach area are encouraged to use caution and obey all traffic signage and flaggers. Work on this project is performed Monday through Saturday, from 7:00am to 6:00pm, and is expected to be completed during the month of April 2015.
