Medical Transportation
The Town’s Fire-Rescue and Police Departments have coordinated and trained with partner agencies in the county to ensure the effective response to and treatment of all patients throughout the duration of the bridge replacement. Alternate routes to area hospitals have been identified (if necessary) and Opticom systems (which allow Fire-Rescue to change upcoming traffic lights to green while in route) will be used to ensure the fastest travel times.

Three additional landing zones (LZs) have been established in Palm Beach for the Health Care District of Palm Beach County’s Trauma Hawk helicopters, bringing our total to 6 LZs throughout the town. Trauma Hawk will be contacted when necessary to ensure patients dealing with potentially life threatening episodes receive the quickest possible care.

In coordination with Good Samaritan Medical Center, Palm Beach Fire Rescue paramedics are using a live telemedicine voice/video link that allows paramedics to directly communicate with the doctors in the emergency room. Using this advanced communication system; video and audio coverage from the inside of the ambulance are directly transmitted to the awaiting physician in the emergency department.  See press release for more information.
