John Page, Director of Planning, Zoning & Building

John Page was hired as Director of the Planning, Zoning & Building (PZ&B) Department in November of 2007. John relocated here from Cedar Falls, Iowa, where he served in a similar capacity as that City’s Director of Developmental Services, responsible for Planning, Engineering, Inspections and Economic Development.

PZ&B plays a vital role in shaping the physical environment of Palm Beach, as well as regulating all building development activity. The Director is responsible for the efficient operation of the Town’s Planning, Zoning and Building functions, including all related ordinances. PZ&B is directly responsible for providing technical support to the Town’s Architectural Commission and Landmarks Preservation Commission, as well as back-up support to Code Enforcement. Annual oversight of occupational licensing is also performed by PZ&B.

John earned a Masters Degree in Urban & Regional Planning from the University of Illinois in 1979. He has served in a variety of planning roles since that time, including Zoning Administrator, City Planner and Departmental Director. He has had extensive experience with the preparation and processing of rezoning requests, subdivision plats, capital improvements programming, variance and special exception reviews, floodplain management, inspections and Code Enforcement.

Mr. Page has been an active community volunteer. His has served a wide variety of organizations that include: Leadership Investment Training, Hospital/Community Advisory Group, Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Child Care Programming, Drug Prevention Programming, and United Way.
