  • Shot on June 3, 1923 and died three days later from an attack near Barton Avenue by three unidentified males who were leaving the beach carrying turtle eggs and meat
  • Off. Smith's twin brother, Massie Smith, was also a Palm Beach Police Officer

Captain John M. Cash

  • Aged 48 years, 4 years of police service
  • Capt. Cash saved the life of at least two swimmers before drowning
  • Drowned on October 31, 1926, at the beach near Royal Palm Way
  • Three other persons drowned that day at the same location which experienced a strong undertow
